A complete sample of a New South Wales Lotteries Lotto draw from 1985, telecast on TCN9 Sydney and country stations throughout NSW and hosted by John Tapp and Karen Pini. Must say, they used to take an eternity to draw out six balls and a supplementary from the machine back then. Nowadays, if you blink, there’s a good chance you’ll miss the draw altogether!

The way Karen Pini said “That’s a big one isn’t it?” like she was telling a guy about what she think of his penis that she’s just been looking at - rather than referring to a high Lotto number. In another of these numerous 1980s Lotto results telecasts, I remember Karen Pini say that “I’m ten inches”; meaning that she had ascertained,or established for herself by testing, that she could take a full ten inches up her vagina, be it a dildo or a real, erect penis.

I liked Karen Pini more when she had no clothes on in Playboy

This was back when the numbers only went up to 40 and there was only 1 supplimentry number.

It now goes up to 45 and they have 2 supps.

    That’s inflation for you

And yeah standard prize certainly hasn’t changed. Considering that Lotto has been going since 1979

In 1985 you could buy a modern house in Vaucluse, and buy a european car and have a OS holiday with the 1st prize. Now you’d need 10 times that.

The ticket prices have increased, the odds have decreased (with the extra numbers), and the standard prizes haven’t increased in 24 years.

Something doesn’t add up! Where’s all the money going?

I think I saw an old “Go Lotto!” sign somewhere outside of Sydney recently; just goes to show that there are some things that are yet to become just a memory…

You’ve got me stumped there. I heard somewhere it was a German company who made this, but I’m not real sure.

I had a crush on Karen Pini in the 80s (although I lived in Victoria, whenever we visited rellies in NSW I remember seeing her on the lotto up there). I wonder who will play Karen Pini’s role in Channel 9’s new Young Doctors commencing in 2008?

He did the Lotto for years!…and, of course he couldn’t help suggesting in this clip that Karen’d “make a good race-caller”.

Johnny Tapp doing the lotto? I’m surprised that he didn’t break into a Golden Slipper call.
